HELLO SPRING!
Isn’t it lovely feeling the days getting longer again, the warmth of some spring sunshine and the scent of daffodils and lilac emerging?
You know that means reaching for your trusted sunscreen once again. The best brand is the one that you love wearing and are happy wearing every day from the start of Spring through to the end of Autumn. (And even in the winter if you’re going on holidays somewhere warm or are having treatment for a pigmentation disorder)
Early Spring is still a great time for resurfacing procedure you’ve been putting off for years. And sclerotherapy. And chemical peeling. Just like spring-cleaning our homes, shedding those dead skin layers, and perhaps addressing skin dehydration too, can restore a particular vibrancy to our faces.
I’ve also been loving the results that those patients with nasty chronic sundamage who have been trialling our microneedling protocol with 5-fluorouracil over the last 2years have been getting. You know you’re onto something special when patients fly 5hrs just to get exclusive access to it at Skin Temple. And yes, I can also treat that severely sundamaged skin on your arms and chest with this protocol. Even on men! Don’t be shy. I can also put some anaesthetic into the mix if you’re particularly anxious or sensitive to pain. Awesome for golfing, surfing, tennis, sailing, sun worshipping fans. And farmers. Minimal downtime, typically just 24hrs of mild redness. Consults are partly Medicare rebatable too!
At last, after 8yrs of construction works and upheaval, the new Anzac Metro Station opened in late 2025, making it even easier to access Skin Temple which is a 5min walk from the St Kilda Rd South exit. Don’t forget that I’m back to working every Friday again. I had stopped working Fridays during the pandemic, but those days are well and truly over!
Some more new topical skincare products are here, this time targeting the body including neck and decolletage areas. Alastin is from the US, and we look forward to hearing your feedback on it. We are also now stocking Emepelle skincare, which is formulated especially for peri- and post-menopausal women. A limited number of samples and gift packs are in stock.
In 2025 Skin Temple introduced a new compounded skincare product, called Lighten Up, with the highest concentration of tranexamic acid on the market. It also contains 10% niacinamide. Lighten Up is a pigmentation treatment product and can be used during the daytime, unlike our other compounded skincare which contains retinoic acid. It is formulated to complement and work in conjunction with our Restore depigmentation cream.
Injectable Update
Hot off the press in late 2026, comes the collagen stimulating liquid that Dr Teska has 26years experience with, now recently also TGA approved for non-facial skin firming. Upper inner arm laxity, decolletage smoothing and buttock augmentation are the key problems that are addressed in off-face treatments. Often we see skin changes as a result of losing significant amounts of weight too. It’s a shame that we can’t talk about the product openly in any public forum, but if you’d like to know more, ask Dr Teska when you’re next in or we can also discuss over the phone. It’s likely that quite a bit of discussion about this will be noticed over the next few months. Not really a new treatment for those with a long history of usage, but there will now be a lot more educational material available for patients considering these officially approved treatment areas.
After the arrival of two brand new wrinkle treatments in 2025, the most exciting product to be launched in Australia in early 2026 was a combination injectable that targets collagen production and skin volumisation, all in a single sterile prefilled syringe. Made in the USA by AbbVie, it’s particularly useful for our more mature clients who are noticing significant volume loss and elasticity decline. As an early adopter of this product, I now have significant experience using it and am happy to answer all of your questions about it, either over the phone if you are a regular patient at Skin Temple or face to face for new patients following a personal assessment.
The other still fairly new product to arrive in Australia in early 2025 combines an interesting and unique mix of collagen stimulation and instant hydration. It comes in 2 different strengths enabling a variety of applications. I am having a lot of fun using these new products already, and exploring ways of putting them to best use in select patients, whilst still maintaining that sought after natural look. Discretion is the name of the game still, after all. In fact, perhaps more than ever before!
Jane Iredale 30% OFF Clearance Sale now on!
As we say a fond farewell to stocking Jane Iredale mineral makeup, all existing product (including brushes and compacts) is now 30% OFF, while stocks last.
Medication Driven Weight Loss (MDWL) Management Service available
It seems that I’ve discovered a common concern amongst many of my peri- or post-menopausal female patients regarding the difficulty of controlling weight changes at this time. After successfully losing 9kg over 4months in late 2024, it’s been clear that many others want to join me. I don’t sell peptides, and have zero interest in the black market unregulated reta that has been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately. But I can help you to save money even while using one of the regulated legal weight loss scripts. So, don’t be shy about your own goals. And don’t be overly concerned about ‘Ozempic Face’ either. Some of those celebs you may have seen have also had cheek fat pads removed surgically, so they look quite scary. Yes, there may be some changes depending on the degree of weight loss, especially if you try to lose weight rapidly, but we can help to minimise the cosmetic impact of MDWL by restoring facial volume and using skin tightening devices. Your joints, your liver, your blood pressure and your wardrobe will all thank you for this health driven goal! Goal setting!
Skincare, varicose vein treatments, chemical peeling, permanent makeup removal and laser rejuvenation are all available and waiting for you. Please book these ahead in case we need to preorder compression legwear for sclerotherapy recovery.
