Blue Veins around eye/face

Using the CoolGlide laser, Dr Teska can safely and effectively eliminate unwanted, unsightly, bulging blue veins around the eyes and face without any downtime.  Dr Teska has been treating blue periorbital veins successfully with this laser for over 15years.

The benefits of treatment of blue veins with the CoolGlide laser are:

  • Safe and effective removal or reduction of large blue veins on the face and around the eye area.
  • It removes or reduces broken capillaries on the face, neck and chest.
  • Tanned and darker complexions can be treated.
  • There is very little downtime and there is minimal risk.

Other uses of the CoolGlide laser include, but aren’t limited to, the removal of leg veins, improvement of sun damaged and wrinkled/aging skin, permanent removal of unwanted hair, and the stimulation of new collagen synthesis to improve skin tone.

How Does It Work?

The five to 10 minute procedure requires a gel to be applied to the skin, followed by the pulsing bright light of the laser. The laser heats and removes the blood vessels below the skins surface, without the bruising that is associated with other vascular laser treatments. Factors such as the type of vascular lesion, the colour, the age and the location on the skin determine which lesions can be removed.

What Can I Expect?

You can expect complete or near-complete and, often, immediate elimination of bulging blue veins after just one treatment. Some patients may find that vessels continue to shrink for up to two months after their treatment.

Is There any Pain?

The CoolGlide laser used for this type of procedure has an inbuilt cooling mechanism which is applied to the skin surface to eliminate discomfort for most patients. Anesthetic is not needed, however patients with sensitive skin may apply a numbing cream, 30 minutes before the treatment.

Safety and Side Effects

This treatment has a very strong history for safety and precision. Side effects are uncommon and temporary.  The most commonly reported side effect is some minor swelling or redness that lasts from 1 hour to 1 day. Other specific risks involved and the suitability of the patient for the treatment can only be determined at the time of initial consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk involved, and minor complications, that do not effect the outcome of the procedure occur occasionally.

Recovery Time

You can return to work on the day of treatment and resume all of your regular activities.

What Does It Cost?

Treatment of blue veins around the eyes is a non-Medicare rebatable procedure, and will cost approximately $550 per session. If you have an annual membership at Skin Temple, your procedures will be discounted by a further 10%.

Who Performs the Laser Treatment of Blue Veins?

Treatment of blue veins around the eyes is done only by Dr Teska, who is trained, experienced and insured for these kinds of procedures.  Skin Temple does not employ Dermal Therapists to conduct any form of laser procedure.
